Acne scar treatments require that a person's skin be free of active acne

What is ActiveFX/DeepFX?

ActiveFX/DeepFX, or fractional resurfacing, is a laser based treatment which improves the skin’s overall tone, texture and pigment. The treatment is great for age spots, wrinkles, acne scars and crepe skin.

Are ActiveFX/DeepFX treatments permanent?

No skin rejuvenation treatment is permanent. If patients maintain a healthy lifestyle and take proper care of their skin, treating age spots, acne scars and other various unwanted skin blemishes can have a long lasting effect. Repeat treatments may be necessary after years of further aging and wear on the skin.

Who is the ideal candidate for ActiveFX/DeepFX?

Individuals who have one week for recovery time and are looking for minimally invasive treatments for improving skin texture, tone and pigment.

What treatment area is ActiveFX/DeepFX best for?

The ActiveFX/DeepFX works best on the face, however treatments can also include the neck and chest.

How is the ActiveFX/DeepFX treatment performed?

ActiveFX/DeepFX treatments are performed with the use of laser technology which involves a topical anesthetic to numb the skin before the treatment begins. A laser is used to fractionally resurface the desired treatment area. The laser involves the use of high-pulsed light which acts to purposefully damage areas of skin to be removed, including areas with discoloration and areas with fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is usually performed once until the patient desires to have it repeated later.

What is the ActiveFX/DeepFX recovery period like?

The skin may feel slightly sunburned and swollen and require a bit of cooling with an ice pack. The skin will likely appear as a sunburn and this will subside over a few days or weeks as the skin heals and begins to peel. Keeping the skin moisturized is always a good idea as is avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun.

When do I see results from ActiveFX/DeepFX?

Results are often visible right away and progressively get more noticeable as time goes by. The skin will peel, heal and new collagen will form, thus softening fine lines, removing discolorations on the face and tightening loose skin. The results may reach their peak in up to 3 to 5 months after the initial treatment.
